As a skin care professional, you most probably follow a 5+ step twice a day skin care routine, plus you regularly exfoliate and treat your skin with facial masks. But do your clients follow your example?
Whether the reason is lack of time or budget, or simply not understanding that you are their skincare consultant, you can “train” your clients on an effective daily skin care routine by educating them about the functions and benefits of the different skin care steps, as well as different active ingredients.
Of course, you would want to do this after diagnosing his or her skin, explaining the diagnosed skin condition(s), and providing advice about their source and ways to avoid them.
Below are some examples from our experts that could lead to healthier client skin and happier returning clients.
Treatment masks are used to boost the nutrient level in the skin. But dead cells on the skin’s surface block the nutrients’ penetration making the masks less effective. Recommend weekly use of scrubs or at-home peels, like our Rosehip Exfoliator or Yogurt Power Peel, which are infused with Lactic Acid.
While moisturizers hydrate and soften the skin while providing a protective layer on the surface, serums contain the highest concentration of nutrients; hence they are like multivitamin supplements for the skin. They have a smaller molecular structure and a delivery system that allows deeper penetration into the skin. They often target specific skin needs or conditions.
Even oily skin needs a light moisturizer to prevent increased sebum production caused by over-drying.
Mix and match our serums and moisturizers based on multiple skin concerns, such as the Grape Stem Cell Solutions™ Serum with the Rosehip Whipped Moisturizer for aging rosacea; or enhance their effects, such as combining our Brightening Serum and Brightening Moisturizer for Face, Hands and Body to lighten hyperpigmentation. Allow 60 seconds for the serum to fully penetrate before layering on the moisturizer.
Sunscreens are not perfect, and most clients do not apply them thoroughly. Antioxidants have the ability to fight age-accelerating free radicals caused by harmful UV rays; hence they provide additional protection against UV damage. Our Age Defense Bioflavonoid Serum and Age Defense Bioflavonoid Moisturizer – containing a wide array of powerful antioxidants – help any sunscreen in shielding against UVA and UVB rays that cause wrinkle lines, hyperpigmentation or worse. They also protect the skin from other free radical damages caused by pollution, stress, smoking or lack of fresh air.
Toners refresh the skin and help remove impurities. Toning the skin is also important to balance the natural pH level, and to infuse it with vitamins and minerals. The skin will be rejuvenated while the pores will be evened out for better moisture absorption from the moisturizer. Our toners and hydrating mists, such as the Stonecrop Toner or the Grape Stem Cell Solutions™ Hydrating Mist, contain organic herbs that not only balance but also revitalize the skin with vitamins and minerals.
Makeup can further accelerate acne symptoms. Protect the skin by applying our Herbal Clay Spot Treatment in a thin layer under liquid or loose foundation. It is designed to blend into the skin tone, and the healing and anti-inflammatory Ichthammol, Zinc and Clove Oil continue to heal the acne spots and help avoiding further contamination from the makeup. This multifunctional zit zapper can be used in a thick layer for an overnight treatment.
For any skin care product and its nutrients to seep in and do their job, all makeup, dust and excess oil have to be washed off the face first. Whether using our mild formulas, such as the Lemon Cleansing Milk, or the heavier-duty deep cleansers, such as the Mineral Exfoliating Wash, they will not strip the skin of its protective moisture level but rather clear it out for an enhanced penetration of skin care products making the nutrients more effective.
